Meltah Kabiria downed Shauri Moyo Blue Stars 3-1 to settle for third place in inaugural SportPesa Super 8 Champions League at Nyayo National Stadium, Sunday, November 6.

Second half strikes from Sammy Agesa, Dalton Musa and Benard Kamau ensured the Stanley Kamau led side take home the Ksh 100,000 award for their achievement while Shauri settle for fourth place after surrendering a first half effort by David Bosire.

Meltah started the match brightly showing intent in the early exchanges as Sammy Agesa and Wilson Muhoto both forcing some brilliant saves from Shauri’s keeper Peter Ngacha who denied them both easy chances.

However David Bosire gave Shauri Moyo the lead in the 34th minute with a wonderful strike within close range after connecting to crisp pass from Erick Kyalo on the left flank for a slender first-half lead.

Upon resumption, Kabiria searched deep for the leveler and their efforts certainly paid off as Sammy Agesa equalized immediately after the break from the penalty spot after Shauri’s defender handled the ball within the area. Dalton Musa then sent Meltah in front in the 52nd minute for a 2-1 lead and from then on, they bossed the proceedings.

Shauris stopper Ngacha kept them in the game in the second half but could not contain Benard Kamau who scrambled home the winner from near post in the 69th minute to completely diminish Blue Stars’ hope for a comeback.

Jericho All Stars take on TUK in the East vs West finals next Sunday 13 November at Nyayo Stadium from 3:00PM.
