Can Fans play a role in this tie?

Could this be all gloom and doom for Nkana FC in the African Safari? This is the story that is agonising the many faithful of this Zambian legendary club.

Football neutrals will tell you that Nkana are dead and buried in this encounter. The job done in Algeria by the host club.

But what a moment, say that to a legion of Nkana fan. The are upbeat is that this tie is still alive and confident that the team can turn around. The argument appears simple. If one team could score at home in the opening tie what will stop the other from doing the same. But that’s football. Loaded high with turns and twists.

The 12 times Zambian Champions who are just coming from beating the 2017 league Champions in Zesco United in the Season Opener, are 3-0 down from the first leg in the CAF Confederation Cup and will need four unanswered goals to make it to the Pre Group stage in the same competition.

Nkana fans across the country are playing a big role in this matter and they are organizing trips to the Copperbelt to fill up the stadium, the action which they believe will spar their team to perform at the highest level

According to one of the organisers of mobilization of fans in Chingola, Chililabombwe and surrounding areas, Evans Mwewa. The preparations have reached advanced stage and fans are up for the tie.

“Impossible is nothing in football and we believe we can turn around the result in our favour. Belouizdad scored three in Algeria and I don’t know why people think we cant get those number of goals. We shall do it for our team and we know the players wont let us down as they know our passion.” Said Mwewa.

The game is slated for 17th March at Nkana stadium at 15:00hrs with the Algerian Club favourite to qualify owing to their 3-0 win in the first leg.

It’s a big ask from the fans on the Nkana team. But like Mwewa alludes football has no absolutes.
