On fire Gor Mahia claimed the bragging rights when they beat bitter arch-rivals AFC Leopards  1-2 in an entertaining match played at the Kasarani Stadium in the 83rd Mashemeji Derby also known as the Nairobi derby.

Kogalo begun the game like a house on fire firing from all cylinders with Francis Kahata providing the sweet passes. The pressure on Ingwe paid off handsomely when in the 22th minute Salim Abdalla gifted Jacques Tuyisenge an open chance to score his 11th league goal when his feeble back pass did not get to Owade on time with the Rwandan forward lurking large just outside the box. Tuyisenge j lobed the ball beautifully over the Leopards  custodian in the 22nd minute for the opener.

The goal seemed to spur on Leopards  who engaged a high gear pushing their opponents for the equaliser when Whyvone Isuza scored a beautiful bicycle kick beating Gor Mahia keeper Bonface Oluoch who remained rooted in the same spot to make take Leopards level at 1-1

The second half was see saw affair as both sides tried to get ahead and in the 53rd minute George Odhiambo’s well taken  left foot shot ensured Gor Mahia restored their lead after  Francis Kahata clever chip  as they held on to the last whistle .
