Zambian Striker Patson Daka on Thursday, 24 August made his Europa league debut for Redbull Salzburg.Daka played 34 minutes in Redbull Salzburg’s four nil thrashing of Romanian Champions FC Viitorul.

Daka started the Match on the bench and came on in the 56th minute for Fredrik Gulbrandsen.

Munus Dabbur opened the scoring in the 8th minute after a lay off from youngster Hannes Wolf Who won the 2016/17 Uefa youth league together with Patson.

Gulbrandsen,Behisha and Haidara added further three goals to help the team to a four nil victory and qualify to the group stages for the 7th time after a 7-1 aggregate scoreline.

The 2017 U20 Africa cup of nations player of the tournament becomes the second player from the “Dream team ” to play in UEFA EUROPA league after KV Oostende midfider Emmanuel Banda.

Daka took to social media to express how big of an honour it was to get the call up and play in the Match.

“It’s with great joy that I can tell you all that i was called up to the Red Bull Salzburg side for today’s UEFA Europa League second leg qualifier which was against Romanian side Viitorul Constanta. We won the match 4-0 and we have qualified for the UEFA Europa League. I played my part in the second half but didn’t score but I must say it was a great honour,” Daka posted on his facebook page .

 

Salzburg and other winning sides from the night joins losing sides from the UEFA Champions League play-offs, and 16 sides already confirmed with group stage places, in the draw for the UEFA Europa League group stage, which takes place in Monaco at 13:00CET on Friday 25 August.
