RACE FOR SUPER LEAGUE PROMOTION INTENSIFIES WITH SIX GAMES TO GO

ROUND UP OF FAZ DIVISION ONE NORTH AND SOUTH IN ZAMBIA

DIVISION ONE NORTH

Top Two

Ndola United 1-1 Lumwana Radiants

The log leaders travelled to the Copperbelt to take on Ndola United who they beat 2-1 in Lumwana in the first round of the season and had a perfect start by leading in the second round only for Ndola United to equalise. However, Lumwana Radiants had complained of poor officiating and had one goal disallowed. This draw as the final result for the two teams meant that Lumwana Radiants ends week 28 on top two points above their closest rivals Kalulushi Modern Stars. For Ndola United, the draw veturely ends any chance of qualifying to the super league with six games before the end of the season.

Kalulushi Modern Stars 1-1 Chindwin Sentries

Second placed Kalulushi Modern Stars were away to Chindwin Sentries and as usual, the top two teams in division one north just can’t seem to get three points away from home and depend on their home form. That draw means Kalulushi Modern Stars will still mantain second position to Lumwana Radiants by a difference of two points and on 53 points as they get  into week 29.

Roan United and Mufulira Blackpool who are third and fourth respectively have realistic chances of catching up with the top two teams but that will mean they should not drop any points until the end of the season. Both teams won their games with Blackpool picking very important away points.

As for lumwana and Kalulushi , be aware of this latest information as your follow ups are just six points from the top team.

BOTTOM FOUR

The relegation zone hots up as it now looks most unlikely for Konkola Mine Police to survive after just winning two games the whole season with only six draws and 28 losses. Mine Police lost again at home to Mining Rangers who are also desperate to get off the relegation zone.

Talking of Zesco Luapula fc which is second from the bottom. Even this week happened to be a bad weekend for them  as they continue losing on the road and that was their fifteenth loss of the season as they travelled to North Western Province to take on FQMO Minning Operations.

Additionally, Copperbelt Buffaloes and Minning Rangers also complete  the bottom four in week 28 and only Minning Rangers won their game among the bottom four teams This past weekend.

DIVISION ONE SOUTH

Division One South was characterised by a number of draws with very few goals scored.

TOP TWO

Kabwe Warriors 0-0 Mumbwa Medics

Lusaka Tigers 1-1 Prison Leopards

The log leaders who still lead by14 points this time around failed to score which has not been common to them this season when they hosted Mumbwa Medics at their home ground in Kabwe, and that should be credit given to Mumbwa because Kabwe Warriors are Seriously having a field day in division one south. Unfortunatly, this draw still did not give any advantage to mumbwa in chasing Lusaka tigers who failed to beat Prison Leopards in Lusaka aswel in another draw of the weekend.

Dispite the draw, Lusaka Tigers still remain second on 53 points while Kabwe Warriors are in a hurry to get back to the Super League on 67 points.

BOTTOM FOUR

Subsequently, Mongu Youth Sports Academy is as good as going with only one win in both the first half and more than half of the second part of the whole season with only few games remaining and there is just no way the team will survive relegation of this division even if they won all the remaining games respectively!

Other teams ending week 28 in the bottom four are Lusaka City Council,  City of Lusaka and Katete Rangers.
