Simba’s Okwi breaks the hearts of his former side Yanga

By Admin,

A beautiful superbly taken goal by Ugandan International Emmanuel Okwi in the 51st minute was enough to silence their bitter arch rivals Yanga and seal all three points in an entertaining Vodacom Tanzania Premier League match played at the National Stadium in Dar Es Salaam.

The match that has saw much in stake begun like a house on fire as both sides fired from all cylinders but it was until the second half that Okwi delivered his trademark sweet banana curve from 27 metres leaving Yanga keeper Ali Mustaph completely dazzled giving him his fifth goal since coming back from Yanga.

Simon Suva could have broke the deadlock for Yanga seven minutes after getting into a good position inside the 18 but instead his weak shot was easily handled by Simba keeper Ivo Mapunda.

As the game was played on Yanga seemed to improve with the return of good inter play   and began to control the game creating many opportunities which included 25th run minute run by Danny Rwanda who however failed tumbled and lost a clear chance

The win was Simba’s second after another hearthrobing 5-0 thumping of Tanzania Prisons as they raised their hopes of clinching the coverted league title amassing 26 points in the third position behind league leaders Yanga with 31 points and Azam.
