Week 13: Ghana Premier League Wrap-Up

The excitement and drama seems not to be dying off in the 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League as it entered Match Day 13 this weekend across nine league venues.

15 goals were recorded, 14 yellow and two red cards were dished out by the center referees.

After humiliating Ashanti Gold 6-1 at the RedBull Arena in Sogakope last weekend, West Africa Football Club (WAFA) couldn’t set themselves free on Independence Day as they were thrashed 4-1 by Legon Cities FC at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday.

William Opoku Mensah’s early goal was enough to hand Asante Kotoko a 1-0 win over Karela United at their adopted Akoon Community Park in Tarkwa.

On Saturday, Maxwell Abbey’s penalty and Phillip Nii Sackey’s goal in each half to gave Great Olympics a 2-0 victory over Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs at the Accra Sports Stadium.

King Faisal FC couldn’t register their first win of the campaign as they were held to a goalless stalemate by Medeama SC at the Ohene Ameyaw Park in Techiman.

Elmina Sharks hammered Liberty Professionals 3-1 at the Nduom Sports Complex. 

Elsewhere, Benjamin Tweneboah, Alhaji Mustapha and Augustine Owusu bagged the goals for the Sea Animals while Alhassan Mubarak fetched the Scientific Soccer lads’ consolation.

On Sunday, Hearts of Oak rallied from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Inter Allies in an exciting derby at the Accra Sports Stadium. 

Samuel Armah opened the scoring for the Capelli Boys before captain Mohammed Alhassan pulling parity for the Phobians.

Aduana Stars were held to a barren draw by Ashanti Gold at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park in Dormaa.

Bechem United and Dreams FC played out a goalless stalemate at the Fosu Gyeabour Park.

Musa Sule netted as Eleven Wonders beat Berekum Chelsea 1-0 at the Ohene Ameyaw Park in Techiman.
