Zambia Chipolopolo upset hosts Gabon Panthers 0-1 in an International friendly match played in Libreville,Gabon on Tuesday evening.

It was joy for Zambia coach Sven Vandenbroeck  who collected his first win in charge of Chipolopolo after the win over Gabon.

Arsenal forward Aubameyang who was on target last weekend as Gabon drew 1-1 with Burundi in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier in Libreville missed the friendly.

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina  left the Gabon camp to return to their clubs missing the friendly against Zambia Chipolopolo. The two flew to their respective bases on Monday ahead of the friendly.

The result marked a good start for the Belgian and is unbeaten from two games in charge of Chipolopolo just four days after an unconvincing 1-1 draw against Namibia in a 2019 AFCON Group K qualifier in Windhoek.

Striker Justin Shonga was again Chipolopolo’s hero when he struck in the 16th minute and could have added a brace but saw his 40th minute goal ruled-out for offside .

It was Shonga’s second goal in as many games following his stoppage time equalizer on September 8 against Namibia.

Meanwhile, Vandenbroeck’s next match will be on October 10 when Chipolopolo hosts Guinea Bissau on match-day-three of the 2019 AFCON Group K qualifiers at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka in a 17h00 kickoff before travelling to Bissau three days later for the final leg.
